I had the pleasure of pattern testing for Samantha of the Handmade Dress again!!! What an honor and a thrill, I must say!!! Her newest pattern is called "Miss Lily" which is named after one of her twin nieces. This pattern has a peasant style top and a bubble style skirt. Too cute!!! I was planning on making the test dress for Elisabeth because she loves dresses. However, Emily piped up that she wanted the test dress made for her. She generally prefers skirts so I was pretty surprised.
Either way, Emily LOVES her new dress. It does not have any buttons or plackets so therefore not only is it easy to get off and on, it is also on and off the sewing machine pretty quickly!!! I really think this dress only took me about 1.5 hours to make. I carried it to my Smocking Guild for show and tell earlier this week and everyone there loved it as well. Emily has already picked out the fabric for her next one.
And if you want to make one of these dresses....Samantha has already started taking pre-orders for the pattern. You can purchase it as a PDF download or a hard copy that she mails to you. Either way....it is fun to sew and it is adorable when finished!!!
As an added bonus, as if the week couldn't get any better, I had the opportunity to meet Samantha earlier this week. Our paths managed to cross and we got to spend an hour or so chatting. I must say, she is one delightful girl...sweet, funny, humble....every bit as wonderful as she is on her blog. I only hope our paths cross again and we get to spend the entire day laughing and sharing stories about our families!!! Until then....I will just make more Miss Lily dresses!!!
