Beautiful Kitchen Windows....Before and After......

Happy New Year Friends!!!!  I have taken quite a break from blogging while keeping busy with my family.  But I have had an itch lately to give a few updates and share a few projects while they are still fresh in my mind.

First, I thought I'd start with my kitchen.  We moved a little over a year ago now.  Most windows are still lacking curtains and most walls are still lacking our pictures.  So a few weeks ago I started thinking about possible window treatments, starting with the kitchen.  I honestly prefer as much sunlight as possible and therefore no curtains.  However, I thought this room could really use a bit of color.

So after searching all of our local fabric shops for possibilities I settled on this fabric pictured above from Hancock's fabric store.  I made mock roman shades and I like them.  And I really enjoy the color they bring into the room.  Since the ceilings are so high I am considering adding something above the windows as well....but I haven't decided yet.  Any suggestions?

Sewing these curtains is just the tip of the iceberg of my sewing lately.  I hope to be back soon to share more.  And I'm hopeful my Emily will share some too.  She has done a lot of sewing and crafting lately.

Happy stitching!!!!  xoxo

Spring-y Skort.....Coming Up......

(This picture doesn't do this fabric justice. It really is pretty!!!)

I am scheduled to teach an A-Line Ruffled Skort class at a local sewing shop this coming weekend. So I thought I best stitch one up so it is fresh in my memory. Plus Elisabeth has about outgrown all the various skorts she already has. So I let her pick out some fabric for a new one. I like this combination that she found. I am noticing that she picks teal colors pretty often.

I like how spring-like the fabrics are. I am SO ready for spring. Even though we have had a mild winter....I am ready for the bright, warm sunshine again. My Vit. D levels are still WAY too low....so some sunshine would be very welcomed here about now!!!

What are you stitching on this week?

New Fabric......

I am so ready for some fun sewing!! I was in my local heirloom shop on Saturday and they were having a sale on some summer fabrics. I picked up both of these for practically nothing!!! And they are plaid and gingham...my favorites!!! People used to ask me what my favorite color was and I would reply "anything plaid." I still feel the same way, but have also added gingham to my answer. In my world everything looks better with plaid or gingham added!!!

This week Emily has asked me to draft out a new skort for her, plus I am hoping to draft out a new shirt for Elisabeth. I don't think I'll be using either of these fabrics.....yet. But maybe soon!!!

We had our Smocking Guild meeting last night....I can't wait to show you what Emily had to share. I need to take pictures and then I'll be back to show you.
