Our Baskets Runneth Over........

We are getting back into the swing of school at our home. I love looking at and purchasing school/craft supplies. We have a great antique cabinet in our kitchen that I store most of our craft supplies in for the children. However, sometimes it is difficult for the smallest ones to find what they are looking for. So, I found this basket at our local Hobby Lobby and promptly filled it up with all new items for the girls. I have been leaving it out on the table during the day and then placing it on the counter in the evenings while we eat dinner and such. This way the girls have full access to it whenever the creative urge hits. We also have an art easel in the kitchen that has had a permanent spot there for the past six years. The girls love to be able to paint at the drop of a hat....plus, on one side there is a chalk board.....and they love to write messages or draw pictures on it.

On a different subject, we go the library pretty often. We have many libraries in our town, but we prefer to go a little out of our way to a teeny tiny one because we like the staff there. On a side note, we also have an extensive library at home, but there is nothing like meandering around the library looking at books and visiting with the librarian. Fortunately, we like the librarian and we think she likes us. Above is a book that Elisabeth picked out for Ethan last week. We've read it several times. Then when we went to corral all the books together to return last week.....guess what I found?????

The back has been peeled off and disposed of. I can't even find the back...anywhere!!! I am beginning to wonder if someone ate it. So, this leads me back to our favorite librarian.....Mary. We went to the library and I told her our story. We've never damaged a book before mind you. She was so great about it. She said, "Oh just don't worry about it." Then I asked if I could replace it with another book. She said that would be great. So, that is what we did. We will deliver the new book to her this coming week. Man, it pays to have a fantastic librarian!!! Maybe we should take her some yummy cookies this week too!!!

We have been using the basket/woven segmented holders for years. Yours looks so neat and organized. I keep organizing ours, but in a week it looks like a tornado went through it. I can't wait to start our new curriculum. As you know, we go all year, and they have just been evaluated, and it's time to start over!
We had a similar problem with books when Abbie was little, she used to love chewing on the spines. You could always tell when she had a book because it was mangled! I'm sure since you have a relationship with the librarian, they were more understanding than normal! He must've needed some fiber!
