Big Sister Back Pack

Here is Emily with her big sister back pack....because big sisters have more stuff to carry....right??? She uses it all the time to carry around all sorts of stuff. She tried to carry one of her knitting projects in it....but the needles kept poking out...she's a quick learner!!! It also has a cute little wallet with it which is the epitome of a quick knit.

The pattern came from Melanie Falick's book called Kids Knitting. Most public libraries have it...but we liked it so well we purchased it.

Yesterday I started researching this sewing machine by Pfaff. A lady at our local quilt store just raves about the Pfaffs and the built-in walking foot that it offers. And come to find out the built-in walking foot can be used with a variety of different presser feet....like the zipper foot, for example. I could see how that could alleviate some skewed seams surrounding the zippers. I will definitely have to do some more research. We also visited the Berninas again. I think Emily is getting one (this one).....but I am not so sure about me. I might have to become a Pfaff kind of girl.

Today I've also been working on some small gifts for some of our favorite people at the quilt store. We know them pretty well.....Emily has even taken her violin and played for them in the past. They are always so kind and seem to enjoy interacting with the children. That rates pretty high on my list. So I thought it would be special to make them a little token for Christmas. Hopefully I will finish these up soon.

What a cute backpack! I love it. I read your earlier post about the Berninas...I have the Aurora 430 with the embroidery module, and I love it. It's the best machine I've ever sewn on. But I do hear great things about Pfaffs, too. Everyone has their favorite, I guess.

I'm a Pfaff person myself. All my machines are Pfaffs including my serger, and my daughter's machine is also a Pfaff. Of course, if I didn't love Pfaffs so much I would get a Bernina. :-)

I love the backpack. It's perfectly scaled for her little build. I bought Annabeth a sewing machine-a Singer 75 stitch machine. I didn't want to get too fancy until her skills warrant it. I'm a Husqvarna girl myself. Walter bought me one 2 years ago and I LOOOOOVVVE it! It even makes my sewing look good. Keep the pics coming.

Thanks for all the comments. I really enjoyed knitting this back pack....it went very fast, is functional, and cute!

Katie, yes, I still really like the Berninas....but I am very intrigued with the built-in walking foot on the Pfaff.

Ruth, thanks for your input on your Pfaffs.

And Missy, thanks for your thoughts on the Husqvarna...I can't even say that!!! :o) I'll keep you posted on my final decision.
