A Fall Skort For Elisabeth.......

The other night I went "stash diving" for some fabric to make Elisabeth a skort. The beige-ish/green-ish fabric came from the clearance rack at H*bby L*bby and the blue/white gingham came from a quilt store last year. Both fabrics are quilting cottons. I think they coordinate pretty well together.....others in this house disagree. Fortunately Elisabeth likes them!!!

You all will laugh when I tell you that I started sewing this around midnight. I should have been sleeping....but the prospect of sewing a little won out. Sometimes that is the only time I get to sew. Some people are surprised....but often I will sit down and sew only one seam. If I literally have 1 minute available while I'm waiting for the oven timer....and everyone is taken care of....I will sit down and sew for that 1 minute. If I waited for the perfect chunk of time to present itself.....I'd never sew again until the kids were all grown....and I'd be awfully grumpy! Sewing is my therapy!!!!

That is TOOOOO cute!!!! I missed it yesterday, blogger reader must have been slacking. I agree wholeheartedly that you have to grab a chunk of time when you can. I think I sewed more when my four were tiny like yours are. All that aside, it is adorable.

My Mom survived years of little kids, traveling husband, etc, by sitting down at an aging Singer and creating beauty. I like the skort very much--your floral/gingham combo is so sweet--I really love the colors.

I really like the gingham underneath!

I used to do my best sewing in the wee hours of the night when the house was quiet.

The skort is very pretty, and the gingham underneath is perfect.
