Ean's New Outfit and Smocking Guild Samples....

Earlier this week I taught a new stitch at Smocking Guild. Of course, I had to have a sample or two to show the finished stitch. So I decided one of the samples would make a good outfit for Ean. I stitched this cute little snail and then put it on a Gerber onesie. In addition I made this cute little diaper cover to match.

If you look closely enough, you can see that the chain stitches actually alternate colors...blue and green. No, I did not use two needles...just one. I will post directions on how to do this in a day or so. I think it is really fun and yields a neat finish.

The other sample I did was this bib sporting a swirl lollipop. (No, it isn't for Ean. I don't put him in pink.) I put large ric rac around the edges for some additional color. I am sure I could have done more to give it a more finished look...but I stopped there mostly because of time.....I was running out of it!

If you look closely you can see the pink and yellow alternating in the chain stitch. You can probably click on the picture to enlarge if you'd like. Same for the above pictures too.
That is what I've been working on in my spare time. But now that the meeting is over, I believe I am going to work on some baby bishops and finish up that cute little romper for my great niece.
And for anyone that enjoys baby pictures....I've been trying to update our family blog a little more frequently. It can be found here: Gracious Goodness. Happy Stitching!!!!

I saw where you visited my blog. Thanks for the comment. I love doing all things creative and feel lucky to have a little bit of talent. I would love to have more. Your baby things are beautiful! I am glad to see some boy things, as I have only one grandson, after having 3 daughters and 4 grand daughters. I am now sewing for a boy. He's a year old now. Love your blog. I would like to become a follower but I didn't see any place on your blog to be able to join.
