We look at Halloween really as a time to dress up as our favorite characters. Over the years we have had Mister Rogers, prairie girls, Shirley Temple, ballerinas, Little Red Riding Hood, and my all-time favorite, Betsy Ross.
This year we had characters from the Wizard of Oz. (Cheryl M. you win the gold star with your guess a few weeks back!) Emily was Dorothy, Elisabeth was Glinda the Good Witch, and Ethan, of course, was the Tin Man. He wanted "to make smoke come out of his head." I made all the costumes from McCalls and Simplicity patterns. They were fun...but I am glad they are finished!!! The kids had a fantastic time tonight and they will continue to use the outfits for dress-up clothes.

How CUTE!!!!!!! I think a good mommy should find a way to make that boy's hat smoke. :) You did a wonderful job and you can tell they are pleased. And that is what makes it all worth it.
Thanks Martha....don't you see the "smoke" coming out of the top??? That was Wayne's idea to make Ethan's "dream" come true.
Your children and their costumes look adorable! You keep that gold star...you deserve it for making little dreams come true! :)
