The other day Elisabeth decided she wanted to work on some embroidery. I had her draw a picture on white paper. Then I lightly traced her picture onto some white cotton fabric with a pencil. Next I set her up with her choice of floss and a needle with a not so sharp point. She loved being able to pick out her own colors! I briefly showed her how to make the running stitch and she was ready!
She spent about an hour or so making three different creations....a balloon, a flower, and a duck. As soon as she finished one she was ready to begin another. I think she is hooked. She is so proud of her work....and she should be. I am too!!!

Excellent work, Elisabeth! I bought a whole bag full of colourful embroidery floss a while back. I'm going to have to introduce my girls to this very soon.
Thanks Deborah!!! Both of my girls love it so far!!! I bet yours will too!!!
When Missy and Britt were little, I showed them how to cross-stitched their names with big yarn on burlap type fabric with big holes. I have kept their handiwork all these years. Alas, I never had them framed.
Very good job, Elisabeth! There is no end of talent in your family!
Linda....well you can still have them framed!!! I tell my little ones that no matter how old they are they'll always be my babies!!!
Susan...thanks!!! Fortunately both of my girls love handwork so far. I hope it continues.
