Best Intentions......

I always have the best intentions when beginning a new project. However, sometimes life gets in the way. Take these Christmas pj's for instance. One of our family traditions is to give the kids new Christmas pj's every year. Generally we purchase these because time is of the essence around this time of year. Last year we plopped down a HUGE chunk of money at Gymboree two days before Christmas on pj's the kids hardly liked......and that was only because that was all we could find in their sizes that semi-matched. (Yes, I'm sure you've noticed by now that I like my children to match. I know it won't last forever....but for now....I like it!!!!) Anyway I digress, at that moment at the Gymboree checkout last year, I decided I would make their pj's this year. Now, flash forward to a few weeks ago. I found patterns and fabric and got them all cut out. I was doing great. Then all the children got sick. Nothing like fevers, sore throats, coughs, and don't forget the projectile sneezing, to stall out a good project. Like I mentioned before....sick children equals no sleep for the momma...much less sewing for the momma. So in the photo above you see the pile of partially finished pj's for my little ones.

I have Emily's nightgown almost finished. Still needs hemming, buttons, buttonholes, and a bow on the front. Elisabeth's on the other hand....needs everything since it is just barely cut out!

Ethan's pj's are the closest to being completed. All that is lacking are buttons on the shirt......I think I can finish that up tonight if everyone stays asleep for at least 20 minutes. You laugh....but I would relish in it!!!! Oh, and did I mention that Wayne and I are feeling pretty yucky today as well? The kids aren't even back to normal yet and now we are sick too!!!

If only I did not have this cute little reindeer staring at me....it's like he knows I am thinking of forgoing the entire project. Maybe his cuteness will keep the project alive for me....I need some motivation to finish these up. Maybe a visit to Gymboree to check price tags will give me the incentive I need. Nothing like some shock-therapy.....however, I'd much rather stay home and have some choc(olate)-therapy!!!!

Cute, cute, cute pj's! I wish I had done the matching pj's thing when my kids were little. Now, as teens, they would look at me like I had two heads if I even mentioned such a thing! LOL Keep working on it - it'll be worth it.

Those are going to be so sweet, Cindy! Wish I could pop on over there and sew 'em up for you. But I don't have any time either. This is a tough time of year--so many expectations and plans, and I don't know about you, but I always have to compromise eventually.

I don't remember, did you get the embroidery module? Or is the reindeer a little applique? He is so cute!

Thanks Katie!!! You are so kind to want to help. I'll just work on them five minutes here and there and see how far I get. Yes, I did get the embroidery module. I love it!!! The reindeer is from Bunnycup...part of her Christmas mini group. Too cute!!!

Your stuff is so darned cute!! I hope the motivation comes! Meanwhile, hope for a little for me--I've only got this little American Girl doll dress to make, but can't seem to sit down to it. By the time my daughter is asleep so am I! Here's the link to the free pattern http://www.infinitefreedom.com/challenges-pages/dropped-waist-directions.html

Cheryl....thanks for your kind words. No, I'm not finished yet...but I am still working on them a few minutes here and there. I only lack hems, sewing the linings down and buttons....almost there!!!

I think the outfit you finished is absolutely adorable. I'm very sorry to hear that you and Wayne are sick as well. I know how frustrating it is to be sick and have a mountain of projects haunting you. Don't put any extra stress on yourself. Your kids would still be cute in paper sacks! People just want to see their smiling faces. I used to get my kids to match until last year, now they think they are all too old for that! Enjoy it while you can.
