It's That Time of Year.......

Time to break out the corduroy!!!! I love to create clothes for the little ones using corduroy. I usually get the featherwale corduroy available from the local heirloom sewing shop. It is a little more expensive but it is an excellent quality!!! Sometimes it wants to move around while I am sewing it.....in those instances I will use the walking foot that I also use for straight quilting. It helps both layers of fabric to feed evenly under the needle.

I made this cute little jumper for Elisabeth out of this gorgeous blue corduroy. I used the Bonnie Blue Holly/Hunter pattern for the jumper. I have used this pattern so many times in the past. I went up to the next size since the ones from last year are getting a little small. However....it will take her awhile before this one really fits well. It's just a little on the long side. But with a steady supply of yummy veggies and fruit....her legs will be growing like crazy, I'm sure!!! Then I'll be lamenting that it's too short!!!

It's a good thing my girls love jumpers!!! I can think of nothing quicker to sew for them. If they are lined or reversible they go together so fast on the machine and with minimal hand finishing. I have fabric to make an adorable shirt to coordinate with the jumper....but I haven't finished it yet. This white shirt is the Children's Corner Lettie shirt I made not too long ago. I still love it!!! I have a couple more jumpers in the works hoping that I can use them for Christmas photos this year. I better get busy.....Christmas is only what......27 days away????? Oh my!!!

Elisabeth seems to enjoy that jumper! That is a nice shade of blue on her. I remember when Abbie wore jumpers. I seemed to do more sewing then. I never thought of using a walking foot for corduroy, what a clever idea. I guess that's why you sew and I don't. You have all the creativity.

When I used to sew clothes for Missy, I liked to use the featherwale corduroy for jumpers because I loved the softness of the fabric. Elisabeth's jumper is very cute, and I love the color. I can't wait to see the shirt that you are making to go with it.
