This precious bonnet is my favorite of the three pieces. It is just so perfect.
I had forgotten how much I love to embroider. I have never done much embroidery....but I love it just the same. I find it to be a very calming activity for me. You can't really see it here but I also embroidered a rose on the button. Cute.
This is the front of the dress. I had so much fun with the embroidery. I love the feather stitch that runs down the front. Oh, and the bullion rosebuds. I can't wait to do some more.
The laces and embroidery go completely around the dress.
And no sweet little girl would be without a matching slip.
In addition to the laces, I also embroidered the same design around the slip skirt, but in white. I love the look of tone-on tone. Plus this way the slip can be worn with any dress.
Also this week, Wayne entertained the children while I actually went and took a class at our local heirloom store. But it wasn't just any class......no. It was taught by Michie Mooney of Creations by Michie. She has 30 heirloom patterns for sale as well as an embroidery book (My girls love her embroidery book.....they call it their "design book.") Turns out...she is soooooo knowledgeable AND likable that I am so grateful to be able to attend the class. It is a two-part class so next week we will finish up our heirloom project. I can't wait!!!

Oh, wow! This is gorgeous! I like to think I'd love to try it, but I'm not sure I could get it right. But you have done a fantastic job!
I've been reading your blog for a while and loving all the handcrafting you do.
Susan,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. If you can sew you can make this dress. It's really easy...just a little more time consuming than regular sewing....in my opinion anyway. However, I must warn you....I find it highly addictive!!!
Cindy, that dress is so beautiful. I can't believe how delicate it looks. I can just imagine matching Easter outfits for the kids this spring. Not to put more on your plate! You really do have a gift for sewing. I wish mine came out as well.
What a wonderful little outfit you've made...and to take a class with Miche!!! Excellent!
I do sew, but no handwork like that! LOL In fact, my handwork has been limited to cross stitch, and even with that I've never tried any of the more advanced things (like something as basic as learning to stitch on linen). But this embroidery is just beautiful enough to make me want to try it!
LOVELY workmanship! Isn't it fun to sit back and look at something created in hand?
May I send a note to Susan? Susan: YOU CAN DO THIS!!! If you can cross-stitch, you can embroider and smock! I promise!
Cindy, welcome to SAGA. It is people like you who are the future of our organization. Thanks for sharing.
maggieb!
Susan....if you can cross-stitch, you can smock. Really it looks intimidating...but it isn't. Give it a try.
Missy and Cheryl....thanks for the kind words.
Maggieb....Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment. I am really enjoying SAGA so far...and I am sure it will only get even better. I have met some wonderful people already...both local and "long distance." Thanks again!
