Emily has been wanting to sew something on her new machine practically every day since Christmas. She did make a pillow the other night and it came out great. (I will post it when I can remember to get it out from underneath her baby dolls head). So tonight, Emily and I decided we would sew something else. I taught myself to sew on my mother's Singer by making clothes for my dolls, so I was thrilled when she wanted to make a skirt for her new Baby Alive doll. We measured the doll and sketched out a pattern on a piece of paper. We proceeded to cut out some fabric and prepare the iron. (It truly annoys me to have to get the iron out and set up....but it really does make a huge difference during the sewing process.) Emily assumed the proper position and off we went.
It did not take very long until we had a cute little A-line skirt for Baby Alive. And Emily truly did ALL the sewing!!!! All I did was make the pattern, help with the pins, and supervise to make sure no fingers entered the needle zone (my biggest worry!!!)
And doesn't Baby Alive look thrilled to have a new skirt????? I think her eyes just may pop out of her head. (Why did the designers think the doll needed such large eyes????)
Elisabeth, not to be outdone by her sister, says tomorrow she wants to make a dress for one of her dolls. I better work on my pattern drafting skills overnight while I sleep.
