A Knitter Is Born!

Last night Emily asked Elisabeth a question that she asks often. It was the following: "Elisabeth, can I teach you how to knit now?" Usually Elisabeth quickly declines the invitation.....but last night she accepted the challenge. They disappeared for about an hour or so. Tonight they worked together some more. Finally I was allowed to see their project.

They are making a scarf for one of Elisabeth's 18 inch dolls. Emily wraps the yarn around the needles for Elisabeth and then Elisabeth slides the needles through. Emily is great at teaching others how to knit. She has taught her friend Luke, her Grandma J. and now is working on Elisabeth. She still can't believe her dad isn't interested in learning.

Here you can see that together they have knitted about 10-12 inches on this mini scarf. Also in this picture you can see the scarf that Elisabeth is wearing. Emily made it for her last week. She just decided on the number of stitches and got busy. About two days later she finished it up and gifted her sister with it. Even though they have their sibling moments they sure take care of each other.

That's such a wonderful story! You know you're doing a great job with your girls when they treat each other so sweetly.

Elisabeth is a fast learner! With a great teacher like Emily, how can she fail! Big sisters are great teachers. Annabeth is always able to get Andrew to try new things, where he declines my requests. I guess I'm not as neat as his big sister!
