This very well may be my precious little baby's coming-home-from-the-hospital outfit. I finally took the time to stitch on the buttonholes and buttons for the sweet little shirt. And I hammered on some snaps for the diaper cover. Most of you know how much I love gingham, so it should be no surprise that I managed to work some gingham into this precious outfit. I used a pattern by Creations by Michie. I made this pattern last year for some friends of ours that had their first baby. I enjoyed making it then and this time. I don't think I'll be putting snaps on any more thin material though. I am concerned they are going to rip the fabric with much use. But I just could not bring myself to make 6 more buttonholes at that moment either. It was truly an impulse decision.
For the cute little ducky I used the technique I just learned from the Claudia Newton class our local SAGA chapter hosted. I still don't have a good handle on the technique...but I am still willing to practice on fun little projects like this.
I can't wait to see chubby little baby legs in this diaper cover!!! And there is another component to the outfit. I don't have a picture yet...but I will soon. It is something very special that Emily made for the new baby to come home in. I'll hopefully get the picture up soon. Check back because it makes the entire outfit that much more special!!!!
I hope you all are well and finding lots of projects to work on. I'm trying not to start new projects...since the baby will be here in less than two weeks. We are all so excited and looking forward to meeting this sweet new baby. My three little ones are so thrilled they can hardly wait. The girls have their left-over "big sister" shirts they plan to wear....and we found a "big brother" shirt for Ethan. They are prepared. I've called our favorite baby nursery nurse at the hospital and told her we'll be in soon. Isn't it funny that we know the nursing staff at the hospital just from having babies there??? We are very blessed!!!
