Timing.....

Wayne, the kids and I loaded up on Saturday morning and headed over to Martha Pullen's School of Art Fashion. Since we have four little ones I have never attended the school.....but I do like to go and shop at the Retail Store. Wayne took the kids to walk around the adjacent hotel (it takes so little to entertain us) and I went shopping. The timing was perfect because as I paid for my items and started walking towards the door I saw Wayne and the kids. The girls were all excited because they said they had seen Martha Pullen. Sure enough she was talking with someone and as they finished I walked up to her and introduced myself and the family. She was so kind and gracious. We must have talked for almost 10 minutes about all sorts of things. She was amazed that Emily is able to knit, crochet, sew, embroider, quilt, etc. She even asked if Emily would teach her to crochet sometime. She really was as nice as she appears on her television show! So I am thinking Saturday was all about timing.....if I had been one extra minute shopping I would have missed this opportunity to meet and chat with Martha. It was a great day!!!

Cindy that is just Super!! Isn't Martha just one gracious Southrn Christian lady? I was blessed to spend a week in Pasadena, CA last Nov 2009 with her & her staff sewing. I hadn't been in the same room with her for 13 yrs and you would have though we got together for lunch once a week. We e-mail and chat all the time now like old friends. If you want to e-mail her & show her what you and your daughter are making she is at painlesspullen@aol.com (appropriate for a wife of a retired dentist). I am blessed to get to be sewing again with her Dec 1-4 just 2 hrs away in San Diego. I can hardly wait!!!! It is an early 55th BDAY present to myself. Did you find lots of goodies you just couldbn't live without? Thanks you again for your complimentary sock crochet pattern. If I get a pair finished, I will take and show it to Martha. I have already reserved 1 night with her for us to go to mexican dinner. The first time I meet her 14 yrs ago she encouraged me to keep working for the navy and start a cottage heirloom sewing bussiness. Well I have finally done that and have had it for 6 yrs now on a small scale in my small farming community. Hope to retire in a yr or two & go fulltime on line. Still practicing and learning. So glad for you again.

Your work is awsome. I don't know how you find time to sew with 4 children under the age of 12.

I know meeting Martha was such a treat. I love her show and her magazine.
