A Spring Top.....

I've been working on a few Spring ideas for Elisabeth. I found this fabric at my local heirloom shop and fell in love with it. I got three coordinating pieces and they are all from Nashville Cotton Company. I love their fabrics!!! Anyway, I wanted to make a square neck top with raglan sleeves. To my knowledge there isn't a pattern available for a top like this....so I decided to draft one....I'm crazy like that! It isn't quite as easy as one would think. But I do love a good challenge. This is my first one and I like it!!! I did draft another last night with minor changes.

I haven't put buttons on this one yet and so I was thinking about taking you all along for the ride when I do. It seems like so many people fear buttons and buttonholes. I don't fear them but I have learned a few tricks over the years...and I thought I'd share them. Give me a few days to get some actual buttons to use and to work up a tutorial....then stop back by. I'll be waiting for you!!! Until then....happy stitching!!!!

I LOVE this! I was just looking for a pattern similar to this on etsy, but in the form of a dress. I was thinking of making a dress like this with trendy spring fabrics for the girls for Easter. I was going to go just above the knees and have them wear leggings and maybe some cute sandals. I'd like to do it with just one or two buttoms on the top back of the dress. I wasn't completely successful in my search. Hard to find patterns like that in a 10 or a 12. I would definitely be interested if you end up drafting a pattern. I may have to just do a peasant top dress or something simple for Easter since I didn't find what I was looking for.

You are soooooo talented.

P.S. I can't wait for the button tutorial. I've never done anything with buttonholes or buttons.

How creative! I never thought of square neck/raglan sleeve. Will you be producing a pattern? I'm sure there are lots of folks who'd want this one!

How absolutely adorable. I am hoping you bring this out in pattern form for the rest of us! Also so looking forward to read and see your tips and trick of buttonholes.

Thanks ladies....I may do a pattern on this design. It is tricky to draft....but it is so cute. I am hoping to pick up some buttons tomorrow so I can begin the tutorial.
