Our Fun Weekend.......

We headed out to Atlanta on Friday morning. We drove most of the way in the dreary rain. But attitudes quickly perked up when we arrived, several hours later, at the Westin hotel. As we rode the escalator up to the main floor, we ran into our friend, Paige of Pintucks and Pettiecoats, and her family.

We made our way to the seventh floor to the SAGA Market. It was amazing.....even overwhelming!!! I stayed for two hours and I still did not make it to every vendor. I had the pleasure of meeting Sally from Farmhouse Fabrics, Maja of Maja's Heirloom Treasures, and the wonderful staff of The Smocking Bird. And of course, Australian Smocking and Embroidery, Sew Beautiful and Peanut Butter-n-Jelly Kids were well represented. There were many other vendors there....probably 45 or so in all.

I also had the pleasure of meeting several blog readers as well. Martha and Anne...it was such a treat to meet both of you!!! In addition, I made several new friends. Plus, I ran into several members of my local SAGA chapter....ladies, it is always a pleasure to see you.

After perusing the Market, I made my way down to the sixth floor to see all the entries for the Peaches and Cream Bonnet Contest. My sweet little bonnet was there.....and I still love it. But it was only one of probably 60 or so. The majority of them were gorgeous!!!! One of the bonnets was entirely tatted. Amazing!!! These ladies did a fantastic job!!!

After visiting with Paige and her family for a few minutes, we headed out in that crazy Atlanta traffic to the Alpharetta area and our hotel for the night. Saturday morning we went to the American Girl Boutique and Bistro. The food was good...but the shopping and eye candy was even better!!! Why wasn't there something like this when I was little??? I will post more about the AG experience on Gracious Goodness in the next day or so.

I visited a school in Melbourne, FL last spring that had an American Girl Tea Party for the 3rd grade girls reading club. The librarians and lots of volunteers transformed the library into a tea room. It was alot of fun, and there were great prizes. Ironically, I was in Atlanta Oct. 12-15 observing school library media interns. I missed you by a few days.

It was so wonderful to meet you and your beautiful family. I am glad you had a good time and I bet the girls enjoyed their time at the AG store.

I think YOUR bonnet is beautiful! It must have been amazing to see so many other ones too.

Sounds like it was a wonderful weekend. I will have to see if there is an AG remotely near us. That would be really fun to go to next time we head south.
