Baby Gift....

Wayne and I know a young couple and they are about to become parents for the first time. They are pretty sure the baby is a sweet little boy. That was all I needed to know and I was off to make precious baby clothes. I love any excuse to sew baby items.

I decided on a pattern by Creations by Michie' (I made size 3 mos.). You can't see the back of the shirt...but it has an adorable pleat to create extra fullness. Both pieces went together pretty quickly and I think they are precious.

The binding on the neckline of this shirt is probably the smallest I have ever done. It is just perfect for a baby shirt....nice and petite.

And I also added some piping on the sleeves....I like to add little details. I find that details make the difference from home-made to hand-made. And there is a difference!

Then I looked through my embroidery books and found this sweet little rocking horse to finish the outfit. I know that most people put the embroidery on first...even before cutting the pattern out. But I generally wait until I finish the outfit....and then I can gauge better what size and type of embroidery I want.

And the gingham diaper cover....where do I start??? I love the combination of the gingham, the mother of pearl buttons and the elastic leg openings....crazy, I know!!! But I can't stop looking at these sweet bottoms!!! And thinking about the precious, fresh baby that will wear them. May he be blessed all the days of his life!!!

OMG that is too too cute. Love everything about it. Your bias binding looks great as does your piping. And that sweet rocking horse. IS this the newborn size?

Lera...thanks so much!!! I feel the same way...but I'm a little biased!!!

Martha..thanks!! I made the 3 months size. The pattern includes newborn, 3 months, and 6 months.

Gorgeous. Your work is always so lovely and perfect. I love blue. My baby boys are too big for this sweet stuff (6 and 17). I cannot wait for grandbabies so I can sew this stuff again!

Every time I see what you have sewn, I want to run right to my machine and start sewing.

You do such beautiful work!! I'm sure that sweet little baby will look adorable in that darling outfit.

Lol! I always thought the embroidery would go on at the end of the project. How else would you know what size and what would look best?! :-)

It's so sweet; I want to see it on a baby! I just held my cousin's baby tonight and felt the tug...

I left something for you on my blog!! Come and see.

Thanks ladies for all the kind words. Don't baby outfits just make you happy??? They do me anyway!!!

Deborah...some people complete the embroidery before cutting out the pattern so they can use a hoop, etc, etc. But for me, I need to wait until the item is finished and then let it "speak" to me.

Sonja and Sunny...thanks so much for thinking of me. I'll post about these sweet awards soon!!!
